How It Works

A structure you can start today — and a path back to people.

RecoverConnection doesn't impose one method. It gives the Steps a shape you can begin at the size you can honestly do, and keeps the human part — your sponsor, your fellowship — at the center.

1

Pick your focus

A short setup asks what you're working on — substances, behaviors, relationships, the areas that matter to you. The app meets you there instead of assuming everyone's recovery looks the same.

2

Work the Steps, at your depth

Structured Step 1–12 work. Step One has a guided journey from small honest questions to a first-person read-back. Step Four gives you the inventory matrix, kept honest — facts first, your part after. Steps 4–9 are gently held in order, because amends without the foundation can do harm.

3

Keep a daily practice

Spiritual maintenance the way the Big Book describes it: a morning practice on awakening, a Step 10 spot-check when something crops up, and the "when we retire" nightly review. Small, honest, repeatable.

4

Map your sobriety, your way

Define sobriety on your terms — clear abstinence, or the circles/lines model for behavioral patterns — and log the behaviors that matter, from bottom line to top line. Your daily check-ins read against your own map, not a generic one.

5

Use the Pocket Sponsor when you're activated

Write what's going on, messy is fine. It separates the facts from your story, names the need underneath, and turns you toward your own part and one next recovery action — asking, never telling. It suggests; you decide. Personal details are removed before anything is sent, and a crisis routes you to 988, not to step work.

6

Bring it to a real person

Prepare a focused packet — selected work, not your whole journal — and take it to your sponsor. The point of all of it is connection: the work is prepared here and brought to the people recovery asks you to reach.

Self-Searching

It reflects, organizes, and questions — it never does the work for you.

Two optional features use AI: a Step One read-back that shapes the evidence you wrote (it invents nothing), and the Pocket Sponsor. Both are opt-in, both remove personal details before sending, and both follow one rule — doing the work is the recovery, so the app may help you see and sort what you wrote, but the honest part stays yours.
