Privacy Policy

Plain-language summary: your recovery work is treated as sensitive by default. We don't sell your data. Daily notes are discarded unless you turn retention on. Everything is easy to delete. The full terms are below.
1. Who we are
RecoverConnection ("we," "us") provides a private, structured tool for doing 12-step recovery work. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, our authentication provider collects what's needed to sign you in (such as your email address and a unique account identifier).
The recovery work you create
This is the content you choose to enter: step work and inventories, daily check-ins and reflections, your sobriety map, and any text you submit to optional features. This material is treated as sensitive by default.
Technical information
Basic technical data needed to run and secure the service (such as request logs and device/browser information). We do not use advertising trackers.
3. How we use information
- To provide the app and save your work to your account.
- To keep the service secure and working.
- To operate optional features you choose to use (see Section 5).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your private recovery content for advertising. Your private work never becomes profile or matching data.
4. Sensitive by default
- Daily notes are not retained by default — free-text notes are discarded after a structured check-in is saved, unless you turn retention on in settings.
- Every entry is easy to delete, and you can delete your account.
5. Optional AI features
Two optional features use a third-party AI service: a Step One read-back and the Pocket Sponsor. When you choose to use them:
- We remove obvious personal details (names, emails, phone numbers, and similar) before sending your text.
- Your text is sent only to generate that response, and is configured not to be retained by the provider or used to train their models.
- You consent each time, and you can use the app fully without them.
6. Service providers
We rely on a small set of providers to run the app — for example, hosting, database storage, authentication, and the AI service above. They process data only to provide their service to us, under their own security and privacy commitments.
7. Data retention & deletion
We keep your work while your account is active so it's there when you return. You can delete individual entries at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't include details you wouldn't want stored.
9. Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your information. To make a request, contact us at the address below.
10. Children
RecoverConnection is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
11. Not a medical or crisis service
RecoverConnection is not a medical, clinical, or crisis service and is not a substitute for professional care, a sponsor, or a meeting. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, call or text 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or your local emergency number.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. We'll revise the date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to let you know.
